Education and Awareness

Carnivore Research Malawi are conducting education and awareness activities in collaboration with project partners The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Malawi (DNPW) .

The aims of the education project are to:

  1. Raise awareness of the importance and role of wild dogs and carnivores to biodiversity conservation
  2. Determine human perceptions of carnivores to identify barriers to conservation practice
  3. Minimize human wildlife conflict and promote coexistence between carnivores and people in surrounding communities

Education Activities

Working with project partners we conduct community talks and distribute leaflets and information packs around the study area to engage with local communities and increase understanding of carnivores and dispel myths.

We are currently seeking further funding to build an education centre to cnoduct our activities and teacher training at the CRM Urban Research Centre in Lilongwe then can be taken to the local communities surrounding Vwaza Marsh Wildife Reserve and Nyika National Park.
