Lilongwe is the capital city of Malawi located in central province.
It boasts a beautiful wilderness area which dissects the city, which contains a diversity of wildlife particularly along the Lingadzi river, including crocodile, duiker, and prolific birdlife.

Urban Hyaena
There are urban hyaena clans occupying the city, venturing out each night to hunt in the city centre streets. Hyaena are often sighted by people heading home from a night out, especially along the road which dissects the nature sanctuary.

CRM is conducting behavioural ecology research on the hyaena clans occupying the city. Find out more about our Urban Hyaena Research Project here
